Reverend Doctor Halliard Brown, Jr. is a native of Charlottesville, Virginia, and the only son of the late Halliard Brown, Sr., and Mrs. Jessie M. Stewart-Hill. He graduated from the Charlottesville public school system and has always been a dedicated servant, joining the United States Army in 1966. Rev. Brown retired from the Army after 25 years in 1991 and from the United States Postal Service in 2005 after 11 years.

Rev. Brown was married to the late Mary G. Brown, and they were blessed with seven children and many grandchildren. Rev. Brown accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour at an early age and was baptized at Zion Union Baptist Church in Charlottesville, VA. Having left the church for some time, Rev. Brown rededicated himself to the Lord in April of 1998 at Mt Zion Baptist church, Advance Mills, VA.

Rev. Brown was called to ministry in 2000, in which he gave his initial sermon in November of that year. A true man of God, Rev. Brown put the Lord, family, Church, and education as his priorities. He has completed studies at Virginia Union University, Richmond, VA, where he received his certificates in Religious Studies, Proclamation Preparation, and Christian Education from the Evans-Smith Leadership Training Institute of the Samuel De Witt Proctor School of Theology. Pastor Brown holds a Bachelor of Religion degree from the New Life Community School of Ministry and Bible Institute, a Master of Biblical Counseling, and a Doctor of Biblical Counseling degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary.

Rev. Brown was ordained in November 2003 and accepted God’s call to pastor Zion Baptist Church in North Garden, VA, in January 2004; he was installed as pastor in April of that year. On November 9, 2024, Rev. Brown was installed as the pastor of West Bottom Baptist Church in Bremo Bluff, VA. He is pastor emeritus of Zion Baptist Church and a former First Vice Moderator of the Piedmont District Baptist Association. He is a member of the African American Pastors Council of Charlottesville, VA, and surrounding areas. He founded the Man Up for God ministry. He was formerly part of the Baptist General Convention of Virginia’s (BGCV) social justice ministry and served as the Piedmont representative for the BGCV men’s ministry. Additionally, he was formerly a professor of religious studies at Cornerstone College in VA, formerly known as Fredericksburg Bible Institute and Seminary. He also serves as an associate pastor and the Christian education director for Little Zion Baptist Church in Orange, VA.

Rev. Brown is on a quest from the Lord to “build the generation of them that seek Him” (Psalm 24:6). Rev. Brown always says, “I’ve come too far to turn around now.”
